Many open questions regarding the integration of V-ATPases into organisms and their environments are still to be addressed. Personally, I am interested in solving some parts of this vast puzzle: By now we know that V-ATPases can carry special modifications and interact with other proteins at certain time points. To describe and characterize that, I am predominantly contributing with proteomics, mostly by subcellular fractionation and protein purification. Amongst others I therefore use a Beckman Coulter Optima XPN-80 Ultracentifuge which is operated by our group.
