COS PhD Program

As soon as you have been accepted by the Faculty of Biosciences as PhD student, you may optionally register at the University of Heidelberg as a doctoral candidate. To become and stay registered, the administration and student services fee is 106,50 Euro (as of November 2011) every semester.

Advantages of registering at the University as a doctoral candidate allow you to use services of the Studentenwerk (student services organization) such as the accommodations services, the CampusCard, and the childcare facilities as well as access to public transportation at discounted prices (“Semesterticket”). If you are an international doctoral candidate and need a visa or a residence permit, it may be additionally advantageous to be registered at the University because your proof of registration can facilitate the application process for a visa or residence permit. For additional information regarding the benefits of registering at the University as a doctoral candidate, please refer to the Graduate Acadamy Information Brochures in the download section. Enrollment at Heidelberg University consists of two steps, admission and registration.
